Not many bands have a 30 year history, the shortest one can calculate for Pink Floyd if you start in 1965 and go through 1995 when touring ended. Take this forward to 2005 (the reunion) or even beyond with the inclusion of solo projects and another milestone can be added to this bands impressive list of achievements. In spite of the internal problems that plagued the band in the late 70s and early 80s they were able to produce 15 studio projects (not to mention various compilations and live releases), exploring a vast range of musical style and technique - giving a diverse audience the chance to experience one of the most unique sounding bands rock music has ever offered. Like many from my generation I grew up listening to Pink Floyd and many years later still find their music enjoyable... While I may have upgraded from 'Animals' on cassette tape to 'PULSE' on DVD this only points out the timelessness of the bands music.

One of my favorite Pink Floyd songs and also one I believe is a
great example of when everything came together for the band,
as well as a perfect way to end my story - enjoy...

Javascript is required for certain functions on this site, if disabled many pages will not display properly. Page testing was done using Internet Explorer on Windows XP machine's with a resolution of 1024x768. The site looks best with IE at that resolution, though it will display fine at any resolution above that as well. Random checks were also made using FireFox and Google Chrome, while there were some issues with these browsers, most pages displayed OK.

7   GENERAL INTEREST / Camping & Campers / REVIEW: John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park  Sep 9th, 2007, 10:25pm

This is the last of three state parks we visited in the Florida Keys this year... Located on Key Largo it is not far from Miami and sees heavy weekend use for that reason. The park has a marina with 2 boat ramps, boat rental and has daily dive tours - in fact, the park caters mainly to day use. The sites were average or a bit smaller, made of gravel and are sort of an extension of the main parking lot, they are also packed in fairly tight. No firepits are provided and the park does not sell wood - though we did have a fire in the standing grills they provide and nothing was said. On a high note, the park is home to several iguana's which visted our site and seemed to enjoy grapes we fed them (have some pics I may add when we get the film developed). Cell phone service worked in the park and I had no problem finding a clear shot of the southern sky for my dish, but that may not be the case on all sites as those on the south side sit against a mangrove area. The restroom and shower facilities were not as clean as most parks due to heavy use, but satisfactory, the park is also patrolled often by police. Overall I would rate camping in this park 7 of 10 possible points due to no water access sites or firepits. The camping area itself also seems like it could have been better designed. The park itself could rate 8 of 10 points because it has a lot to offer besides camping, Bahia Honda would be a better choice.

 8   GENERAL INTEREST / Camping & Campers / REVIEW: Long Key State Park  Aug 15th, 2007, 9:05pm

This park has limited day use facilities and boats must be anchored offshore of your campsite. However, all campsites are directly on the beach, made of sand and have firepits. The only downside is that being on the beach does limit the privacy offered from site to site. The water here is fairly shallow until you get out pretty far so is better for wading than actually swimming but the breeze off the ocean keeps the days from being too hot and helped to cool things off at night so tent camping is possible even during summer months if that is your thing. Wood is sold on the honor system right in the campground and I believe it was 12 pieces for 3 dollars (very reasonable). Cell phone service worked in the park and I had no problem finding a clear shot of the southern sky for my dish. The restroom and shower facilities were clean and well maintained. While located in a rather remote area it was right next to the highway (kind of unavoidable as the key is maybe half a mile across) but traffic at night is fairly light anyway. I would rate this campground 9 of 10 possible points but keep in mind the park is small and does not offer much besides camping...

 9   GENERAL INTEREST / Camping & Campers / REVIEW: Bahia Honda State Park  Aug 13th, 2007, 10:02pm

This is the first of three state parks we visited in the Florida Keys this year, it is also the most southern state park in the keys (and the United States I would assume). Located on Bahia Honda key, just north of Big Pine key and less than 60 miles north of Key West it is a very popular full service park so BOOK EARLY. I would certainly visit this park again. The park has 3 camping areas and cabins available (we stayed in the buttonwood area), it also has a marina with 2 boat ramps and daily dive tours. The sites were average in size (made of gravel which is not very comfortable on bare feet) but provided fair privacy and were shaded by trees. You will also want to have plenty of water hose here as the connection is shared and in the front of the site. Being the middle of summer biting bugs were heavy, no firepits are provided and the park does not sell wood - though you are allowed to have a fire in the standing grills they provide if you bring your own wood. Cell phone service worked in the park and I had no problem finding a clear shot of the southern sky for my dish. The restroom and shower facilities were clean and well maintained. Atlantic beach access was just a few minutes walk from your site, as was the marina which has picnic areas and another small beach. Overall I would rate camping in this park 8 of 10 possible points due to few water access sites and no firepits (regardless of the temperature a big part of our camping experience includes sitting around the fire at night). The park itself would rate 9 of 10 points because it has a lot to offer besides camping.

10   GENERAL INTEREST / Machines & Accessories / Re: Tell me how to protect my computer  Jan 22nd, 2007, 5:35pm

If a hacker is actively trying to gain access to your machine it could well be that eventually they will, best bet in that case is to keep critical information off your hard-drive and make frequent backups to safe locations.
However, if like most of us you simply want protection while surfing the web and recieving email ect I would try Avast! AntiVirus ( http://avast.com - it is free for home use ) along with Windows Defender ( provided by Microsoft for free ). Those two applications should protect you from most problems you are likely to run across and are not going to hog all your speed. The Firewall built into Windows XP is also going to offer additional protection with minimal use of resources, a hardware firewall ( such as a NetGear ProSafe ) may be a bit faster and more secure but is also going to cost some money ( 100 bucks or so ).  Cool
